ABOUT THE NEWBORN SESSION:
From the moment you enter my studio, you can trust me to treat your new bundle as if it were my own child. I am an experienced newborn photographer that is patient, pays attention to every detail to ensure the best photos, and provides a clean, safe environment for your baby. The studio will be a bit warmer than you may be used to and that is because we want to keep baby at a comfortable temperature and don’t want him or her to get cold. I will make you and baby feel at home and hopefully you can enjoy some coffee and a couple hours of relaxation!
As a lifestyle and prop photographer, I capture a wide assortment of images of your tiny, very sleepy newborn looking peaceful and angelic. They are only this little once and we want to document that perfectly squishy newborn look that passes by much too quickly. I will safely pose baby into adorable curled up positions that showcase their flawless face and pure, delicate skin.
We do get the simple blanket pictures with little beanie hats and bows an an array of backdrops, but what sets me apart from many newborn photographers is that I also offer an extensive array of props as well, including buckets, baskets, carriages and much more. I also like to capture images of you and your family with the baby. You are welcome to bring anyone else along to the shoot that would also like a picture with the baby. I have had many clients bring their parents and even grandparents to get 3 and 4 generation photos.
I provide all props including hats and diaper covers, but you are more than welcome to bring other items that you would like to use. Many people like to bring memorabilia from their college/favorite sports team or gifts that friends or family have given them.
I like to capture the newborn pictures within the first two weeks of life when baby is cuddly, squishy and has the fresh newborn look. It is best to go ahead and book a session in advance and I will hold a few dates open to accommodate you. Of course the date can change since no one really knows when the baby will join us!
WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE:
All newborn session come with a CD with at least 45 fully edited images provided in color and black and white. You will also be provided with an image gallery that will allow you to download the images while you wait on the finished CD. You can share this image gallery with friends and family to allow them to download the images just like they had their own CD. I also have an app that can be downloaded to any Android or Apple cell or tablet that makes accessing and sharing your images on the fly super easy!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
With a newborn shoot you can expect a variety of images including simple blanket pictures, prop pictures, family pictures and much more. Parents are welcome and encouraged to participate in the photo shoots. Shots with mom, dad, and baby are beautiful reminders of the emotion and excitement of this special time in life. The Golden Rule of newborn photography is that babies are unpredictable! At just a few days old, a regular feeding, sleeping, and potty schedule is out of the question. I understand this, and as a result require up to 2.5 hours blocked out for newborn sessions. Most of the time they only last 1.5 hours. Although I have my bag of tricks to make the process efficient and fun for everyone, it really all comes down to how baby is feeling! BLOG POST ON
WHAT TO WEAR:
It is best for parents and siblings to come dressed and ready for your family pictures. I know, I know…You just had a baby and aren’t feeling your best. But I think this is the perfect time to pamper yourself! Go have your hair + makeup done (or better yet, have someone come to you!), schedule a massage or have your nails done. Looking super relaxed and at your best will make you feel more comfortable during the session. This is an exciting time in your life and I want to capture all of that…so take care of yourself first! And feel free to tell your husbands that I am making you if they need a little convincing! As far as clothing? Keep it simple. Throw in a little color in if you’d like, but skip the busy patterns. (And please don’t feel the need to match everyone in white shirts and jeans – there’s simple…and then there’s boring!) For moms, I suggest cotton knit camis and knit tops.I am also a fan of skin-on-skin portraits with you holding your baby against you. They’re so simple + timeless but that is not for everyone so please share with me your feelings on it! If you want some portraits like this with your newborn, consider a strapless top or tank as an alternative.
THE DAY OF THE SHOOT:
With a new baby, everything is new! It takes time to get into a rhythm with your little angel and predicting when nap time will happen is generally difficult. It’s really a balance and you will know at the time what is best for your little one.
There is a $100 deposit to book your shoot and get a date on the books, but of course that date may and most likely will change. :-) Remember you can add a mini maternity to your newborn session for only $100!
Newborn Session- $450 (In studio only)
In-home Newborn sessions are an additional cost of $50.
I love creating something unique for each shoot so please tell me about you and your family and I will do my best to come up with something just for you!
